# IMQOptions.prefix property · @imqueue/core

Published: 2026-08-04
Author: @imqueue maintainers (https://github.com/imqueue)
Package: @imqueue/core 3.3.2 — generated reference, not hand-written

Global key namespace for everything this queue writes. Defaults to `'imq'`.

**Signature:**

```typescript
prefix?: string;
```

## Remarks

The prefix scopes more than the queue keys: it also scopes the delayed set, the pub/sub channel names, and the watcher election lock `<prefix>:watch:lock`. All queues sharing a prefix on the same Redis host therefore elect exactly one watcher between them, and [IMessageQueue.publish()](https://imqueue.org/api/core/latest/core.imessagequeue.publish/) can only reach names inside the same prefix. Use distinct prefixes to isolate unrelated applications on a shared Redis.
